I am unable to use a machine I purchased because the software is faulty. Kodak did not include the installation CD in the box and told me to download from the website. The machine is a pile of junk that cannot be used. This software will not install without an active internet connection. In addition, it automatically searches for updates and if it cannot connect, the installation fails.Kodak chat is equally useless. Do NOT buy this machine - it will not work. In fact, stay away from Kodak.
They do not really understand their products well. It is very easy to install (I used the USB direct connect, but there are many other ways of connecting, including Bluetooth). Beautiful color is the first thing I thought about when I printed my first page, and that was on ordinary paper. I have had no problems in 2 months with the Kodak ESP 9. I had been using an HP All-in-one and cussed at the thing everytime I used it. It constantly needed head cleaning, replacement of non-empty ink cartridges wasting gobs of money, and online product support took forever. It is well desinged and I would strongly recommend its purchase. I have it for home use.
No go. I couldn't wait to get it home. I have been through 3 sets of ink cartridges, went through all their automated maintenance chores, manually took the print head out and cleaned it. Setup was easy and wifi was a breeze.
The way I feel right now is that I would just waste a lot of my time sitting on the phone just to have them tell me I need a another new print head or the printer is defective and I will still have a piece of JUNK. It did a beautiful job for about 4 months. All of a sudden pictures started looking pink. I bought new ink cartridges hoping that would solve the issue. I was so excited when this printer came out I though at last I could have one printer instead of two to do all the printing I wanted to do(text and pictures) without spending a fortune on ink. I will never buy another Kodak product EVER. My printer was back and everything seemed to be working well for about 2 months then the same thing started happening again.
I might get one good page of text before it starts all over again. Their online support tells me evidently I cannot resolve the issue myself and that I need to call tech support.
It's back to HP's for me, after years of service I've never had problems like this. `Kodak' who else would know pictures better, right.
I have been in IT for 26 years and I have never seen such a piece of trash. Then the bottom half of text started disappearing.
I went to Kodak's online trouble shooting and they determined I had a defective print head and sent a new one right out. I've wasted enough of my time.
It's too bad I gave my HP's away after I bought this, I wish I had them back now.
It took numerous tries' and on pure white card stock before would it accept to print business cards. I put it together, and tried to print out a picture. We did the ole unplug everything and kick it back on. Here it is Tuesday the 6th and haven't heard from anyone yet. Such as "Printer doesn't recognize ink cartridges" Papers edge not found, wouldn't accept card stock, nor could I print business cards. Okay I called tech support, and honest to God I spoke with two regular tech's and finally wound up with one of the Supervisors. I couldn't print it and got an error 1000.
Only one of the three I could understand well enough. I was told to download a newer software off their site and did all that was required, and tried to print a picture, and it still gave me the same error. I bought a Kodak ESP9; right off the bat there is no manual. Some six plus (6+) hours later he signs off telling me he is going to give the files he copied to the Engineer. That was on Friday 10/01 because it was the weekend I had to wait for Monday to come around, and I receive an E-mail asking if I would be available on Monday the 5th and I responded that they could. Over the weekend I discovered that I got some other errors. I haven't had near the problems that I have read other people having with tech support, but I am only a newbie to this. The light on the scanner is such that it will bleed through and I get a revered copy of what is on the side that is not being copied, and it prints crooked and really slow.
I had to check its quality, since ink is so cheap. I can't figure out how to lighten the light or darkness of a document being copied or scanned. We rebooted I don't know how many times. Even the Supervisor came in and took over my computer trying to fix the problem. If it is printed front & back. NOPE if you ask me DON'T ANYONE BUY A KODAK ESP9~~ Dirty Words~~ NUFF SAID.
I am throwing this printer in the trash where it belongs, and buying a better quality Canon printer. The tech support is a joke also, from over in India.
I am now on my THIRD printer, and this one is as bad or worse as the first two. I purchased this printer in February 2009.
The cheaper ink is a scam to, they hold half as much ink as other ink cartridges, so it is not a good deal. The quality is horrible.
The printer itself is as cheaply made as I have ever seen, yet they charge a premium price for it. If you have had to endure this printer for over 30 days, they will not refund your money, as I have requested, but turned down.
Save your money, do not buy a Kodak printer.
